Arkansas Diamonds News Release
North Little Rock, AR â The Arkansas Twisters are no strangers to playing tough schedules, and the 2005 Twisters schedule is no different. The new schedule, released by arenafootball2, features seven teams that made the playoffs in 2004.
"Every year we feel we get the toughest schedule in af2," says head coach Gary Anderson. "If they (af2) gave us anything any easier, we would complain about it. We wouldn't have the schedule any other way. To be the best, you got to play the best. We're looking forward to the 2005 season, and we look forward to seeing all the Twisters fans next year."
Among the scheduled teams are two games against the defending af2 champion Florida Firecats. Florida visits Alltel Arena on April 29th, marking the first meeting between the two teams. Arkansas opens the season on April 9th against Oklahoma City. Of the 16 regular season games, the Twisters will play 11 games against 7 teams that made the af2 playoffs in 2004.
"This is the toughest schedule in the history of the Arkansas Twisters. This schedule will provide many new challenges and we look forward to everyone of them," states Twisters General Manager Andy Haskell. "Arkansas Twisters fans are the best in af2, and they give us a tremendous boost when we play at Alltel Arena."
The Twisters will host eight home games, featuring some of the best teams in af2. Along with Florida and Oklahoma City, the Twisters will also play
Green Bay(May 7), Birmingham(May 21), Memphis(June 4), South Georgia, formally Cape Fear(June 18), Macon(July 16), and Amarillo(July 30) at Alltel Arena. Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling 975-KICK.
"From a football perspective, I echo Coach Anderson's sentiments in that schedule is tough, but you have to play the big boys sooner or later," says Twisters President Jack Lankford. "From a marketing perspective, I'm pleased with having a minimum of two weeks to promote our Twisters events between home games, and I do mean EVENTS!"
