Diamonds Hammer Hammerheads

For the Diamonds, the game started with a bang. Coco Blaylock returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and the Diamonds never looked back. The Diamonds held on to the lead hammering the Corpus Chrisi Hammerheads 35-21 to push their record to 4-1 on the year.

The Diamonds used the strength of their defense and the kickoff return of Blaylock to get the victory. The defense turned away the Hammerheads on numerous occasions including two goal line stands in the first half.

Filling in for James Pinkney, quarterback Willie Copeland passed for 168 yards while tossing three touchdown passes. Ricardo Lenhart had five catches for 75 yards and a touchdown while Steven Savoy had 73 yards receiving on 3 catches and two touchdowns.

On defense, the Diamonds was led by Fancis Maka had seven tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, for a total of nine yards. Brent Hafford had an interception for 18 yards.

For his effort, Maka was named Arkansas Diamonds Defensive Player of the Week. Quarterback Willie Copeland was named Arkansas Diamonds Offensive Player of the Week.
