Over a Cup of Coffee

Being gone for the better part of a week has me feeling this morning like it's late in the 4th quarter and my team is down three touchdowns. In other words, I hate playing catch up!
In my absence I see the Colorado Ice has new ownership. I like that he is local, and he says he wants to get more involved in the community. I hope this is a long-term fix for the franchise and he does get the community more involved.
I have a correction of sorts this morning. I have reported several times that the SIFL stats for 2010 haven't been posted when in fact they have. I am not totally falling on the grenade on this one, though. My inability to access them was due to a browser compatibility issue. I use Google Chrome. It may not be the most popular browser out there, but I like it. I didn't even think that might be the problem since I've had no trouble accessing any content on the AIFA site and both the AIFA and SIFL sites were created by the same company.
I do apologize to the SIFL, but also feel they should take the matter up with their website people to get any browser compatibility issues corrected. In my research there are seven browsers available. I am not saying a site should be compatible with all out there, but at least the most popular three or four.
Last night
It was good to see the IFL Pointstreak program with added in game stats, at least in two of the six games. I'm not sure what the problem is, but seems most are still having problems mastering the new software. The SIFL had its usual Twitter play by play and credit the CIFL for at least putting up an announcement of no live stats for their game. The AIFA was as usual, nothing official, but AIFAFans picked up the ball with their internet broadcast of the Erie and Ogden games along with updates of others. I can't say enough about how great a job AIFAFans does when the league they follow is clearly behind the other three in keeping fans informed.
In the IFL last night I was shocked to see the Sioux Falls Storm go down at home to the Wichita Wild, 44-26. The Wild win forces a tie for first in the Central West with both the Storm and Wild at 4-1. Other than that shocker everything else went pretty much as expected. The Richmond Revolution (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season on the road against the Rochester Raiders (2-2). In other games Arkansas (3-1) defeated the Corpus Christi Hammerheads (2-0) by a score of 35-21. The San Angelo Stampede Express (2-1) topped the Abilene Ruff Riders (0-3) 39-37. Omaha improved to 2-2 by downing still winless La Crosse 37-27. The Maryland Maniacs (0-2) nearly got into the win column last night before falling to Green Bay (4-1) 46-45. Friday night saw Austin (1-2) continue to struggle as Amarillo (3-0) crushed the 'Cats 71-20. I don't know how in today's immediate information the IFL can list a two day old game like Alaska (2-2) at Fairbanks (3-1) as the score unofficial. So unofficially, the Grizzles beat the Wild 22-18
In the AIFA The Richmond Raiders (2-2) defeated the Fayetteville Guard (1-2) 55-39, the Erie Storm (1-3) fell big to the Harrisburg Stampede (3-1) 55-19. After jumping out to a lead in the first quarter, the Ogden Knights (0-3) went down again to the San Jose Wolves (3-0) 58-32. Watching some of the game on AIFAFans, think I can safely say if the estimated attendance of 1200 was generous as the crowd looked like only a few hundred. The only other game out west Saturday night saw Yakima (2-1) pick up their second win of the season as they defeated Wenatchee (1-2) 50-34.
In the SIFL Albany (1-0) opened their season with a sound win over Columbus (1-1) 54-41.
The CIFL had one game, Wisconsin (1-0) hosting Miami Valley (0-2). The Wisconsin team pulled out the narrow victory 38-32.
The race
All four of the leagues are into full swing now, so I want to start tracking the playoff picture. I'll start with that tomorrow after all games have been concluded.
