Albany Conquest 2005 schedule announced

Albany, N.Y., November 16, 2004 – The Albany Conquest will play their 2005 home opener at Pepsi Arena against long-time division rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. on April 15, also known as Tax Day. The arenafootball2 (af2) office in Chicago announced the 2005 league schedule today. Albany Conquest season tickets are on sale now by calling (518) 487-2222 ext. 1 or on the web at www.albanyconquest.com.

The Conquest's fourth af2 season will consist of a 16-game schedule, including eight home dates at Pepsi Arena (four Friday night and four Saturday night games) with all home contests slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. Seven different teams will descend on Pepsi Arena to face the Conquest, including first-time appearances by the Memphis Xplorers on May 21 and the Bossier-Shreveport (Bossier City, La.) Battle Wings on June 4. In total including away games, the Conquest will face nine different teams during the regular season, the most variety of any of their seasons to date.

Albany, who competes in the five-team East Division of the 20-team af2, will face division foe Manchester Wolves twice at home on April 23 and May 14. Albany will meet Manchester another time on the road in what will be the regular season finale for both teams on July 29.

Albany will host a three game home stand against Louisville Fire on June 24, South Georgia Wildcats on July 8, and Green Bay Blizzard on July 15. The weekend prior to the Fourth of July will be a bye week for all arenafootball2 teams. Albany will also play each of the aforementioned teams once on the road. The Conquest will travel to face Louisville on May 27 and Green Bay on April 8 in a game that will officially open the regular season for the Conquest. Both teams are now in the same division as the Conquest. South Georgia (formerly Cape Fear) will host Albany on April 30.

The Conquest will play two road games against Wilkes-Barre (June 10 and July 22) as well as away dates against the Macon Knights on May 7 and a first-time stint against host Quad City Steamwheelers on June 18.
