Twins Place Crede on D.L., Option Gabino, To Recall Morales

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced after tonight's game that they have placed third baseman Joe Crede on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 22, with a lower back strain.
To replace Crede on the 25-man roster, the Twins will recall catcher Jose Morales in time for tomorrow night's game vs. the Texas Rangers. Morales batted .336 (71-for-211) with 13 doubles, one triple, two home runs and 26 rbi in 58 games with the Red Wings this season. In four stints with the Twins this season, Morales batted .343 (23-for-67) with four doubles and four rbi in 29 games.
In addition, the Twins optioned right-handed pitcher Armando Gabino to Triple-A Rochester after tonight's game. They will make a corresponding roster move tomorrow (Saturday), to replace Gabino on the 25-man roster.
