
Nielsen Named IL Sports Turf Manager of the Year

Louisville, KY - The Louisville Bats are happy to announce that Head Groundskeeper Tom Nielsen has been voted as the International League Sports Turf Manager of the Year. Voted on by International League field managers and pitching coaches, the award was established in 1992 to recognize outstanding effort and excellence in the care and maintenance of a baseball playing surface.
Team President Gary Ulmer said, "Tom is very deserving of this award. We have enjoyed an outstanding playing field at Louisville Slugger Field for many years under Tom's leadership."
Hired in 1999 to oversee the franchise's move into Louisville Slugger Field for the 2000 season, Nielsen also won this award in 2003.
