Twins Acquire Jon Rauch, Outright Philip Humber

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have acquired righthanded pitcher Jon Rauch from the Arizona Diamondbacks, in exchange for a player to be named later. Rauch was 2-2, 4.14 (54.1 ip, 25 er) with two saves, allowing 17 walks with 35 strikeouts in 58 appearances for the Diamondbacks this season. His 305 appearances since the beginning of the 2006 season are the most in Major League Baseball.

Rauch was originally drafted in the third round of the 1999 First-Year Player Draft by the Chicago White Sox. Since making his Major League debut with the White Sox in 2002, he has also pitched for Montreal, Washington and Arizona. In 339 appearances (11 starts), he has a career record of 26-25, 3.87 (395.1 ip, 170 er) with 26 saves, allowing 126 walks with 322 strikeouts in 339. Rauch is expected to be in Minnesota for Saturday night's game vs. the Texas Rangers and will wear uniform number 57.

To make room for Rauch on the 25-man roster, the Twins have outrighted pitcher Philip Humber to Triple-A Rochester. In two stints with the Twins this season, Humber was 0-0, 8.00 (9.0 ip, 8 er) in eight appearances, with nine walks and nine strikeouts.
