Tulsa Drillers News Release

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Tulsa Drillers returned to action Friday night, playing game two of a four-game series against the Arkansas Travelers. After playing a tightly contested game, a bases loaded wild pitch in the ninth allowed the go-ahead run to score for the Drillers as they defeated the Travelers 2-1.

In the top of the ninth, Arkansas reliever Sam Delaplane struck out Cody Thomas, but the Drillers outfielder reached safely on a wild pitch. Thomas advanced to second on another wild pitch, then came around to score on the third wild pitch of the inning by Delaplane. It would prove to be the winning run for Tulsa.

With the win on Friday, Tulsa and Arkansas are tied atop the Texas League North Division standings, both with 6-2 records.

Drillers starting pitcher Edwin Uceta allowed only one hit through the first five innings, but Arkansas struck first with a run in the sixth. Dom Thompson-Williams singled, scoring Aaron Knapp from second to give the Travs a 1-0 lead.

The Drillers evened things at 1-1 an inning later. Thomas led off the seventh inning with a double, and two batters later, Keibert Ruiz singled to center, plating Thomas.
