AMARILLO, Texas - The Sod Poodles bounced back with a 6-4 victory over the Corpus Christi Hooks in the second game of the series in front of over 7,000 at HODGETOWN on Friday evening. Infielder Ivan Castillo highlighted the Amarillo offense on his 3-for-4 night, finishing a home run shy of the cycle. Both Edward Olivares and Peter Van Gansen added two-hit performances to the lineup while Olivares and Chris Baker both homered.

Righty Lake Bachar, who picked up his fourth win, followed Morejon and tossed an impressive five and one-third frames while allowing three runs and seven hits and collected four strikeouts.
The Hooks got their offense going in the top of the first inning to take an early lead. After Bryan De La Cruz sent a single up the middle and advanced to second on a fielding error in the outfield, he was moved up to third base on a groundout by Ronnie Dawson. A sacrifice fly ball by Stephen Wrenn then made it a 1-0 Corpus Christi lead.

After a scoreless second inning, the Hooks found another scoring opportunity in the third. With Bachar in for Morejon, Osvaldo Duarte led off with a single and a pickoff throwing error brought him to third with no outs. Anibal Sierra took advantage and knocked a single to left field to make it a 2-0 contest.
In the bottom of the third, Amarillo rallied again sparked by Castillo's one-out double to right-center field. Olivares, who hadn't homered in 10 games, belted a two-strike pitch deep and over the left-field wall to tie the game and mark his 10th home run of the season. Then, with two outs, Torrens saw one pitch and knocked his second offered over HODGETOWN's videoboard to give Amarillo the 3-2 advantage.
The Sod Poodles continued in the bottom of the fourth with another run. After Brad Zunica led off the half with his 13th double of the season, Taylor Kohlwey came up with one out and singled up the middle to extend the Sod Poodles lead to 4-2.
After three consecutive zeroes on the board by Corpus Christi, the Hooks shifted the rhythm. In the top of the seventh, nine-hitter Sierra connected with a 1-1 pitch for a two-run home run to tie the game at 4-4, plating Chuckie Robinson, who started the inning with a leadoff single.
However, in the bottom half, the Sod Poodles retook the lead instantly after Castillo sent a one-out triple down the right field line and scored on a wild pitch during the next at-bat to make it a 5-4 advantage.
The Sod Poodles added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 6-4 advantage thanks to Baker's second home run of the season.
After a two-out hold in the top of the eighth by southpaw reliever Travis Radke, righty David Bednar came in the ninth seeking his fifth save. He shut down game two with a three-up, three-down frame to even the series.
