AMARILLO, Texas - Amarillo Sod Poodles southpaw and Padres' number six-rated prospect (MLB.com) Adrian Morejon was selected to the National League roster for the 2019 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which will be played at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, July 7th at Progressive Field in Cleveland. Rosters were announced by Major League Baseball earlier today on MLB Network's "MLB Central." The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which is now in its 21st year, features the top Minor League prospects competing as part of All-Star Sunday.

Morejon (Amarillo) is one of three San Diego Padres' Minor League pitching prospects selected to the roster. The other two include number two-rated prospect (MLB.com) and North Carolina native Mackenzie Gore (Lake Elsinore) and number 9-rated prospect (MLB.com) and Colombia native Luis Patiño (Lake Elsinore).

Morejon was part of San Diego's 2016 international signing class, inking for $11 million. He was the MVP of the 15-and-under World Cup in Mexico in 2014. At 15, Morejon played in Cuba's Serie Nacional, where he was the youngest player to participate in Cuba's top league. A.J. Preller said on the signing of Morejon, "We view him as an elite talent in the game, at least on the amateur scene this year...you combine projection with 'now' stuff. ... It's a combination of a 17-year-old left-hander with some growth potential, that you're excited about what the future holds."

The Cuban 20-year-old entered 2019 as the fourth-best pitching prospect in the Padres organization according to MLB.com. This season, he currently holds an 0-4 record with a 5.46 ERA over 12 starts. In late April, he was placed on the injured list and was activated in mid-May. Last season, he was selected to the California League All-Star team as a member of High-A Lake Elsinore Storm. In his career overall, he is 7-13 with a 3.97 ERA over 39 starts with 168 strikeouts.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with MLB Pipeline, Baseball America and the 30 Major League Clubs, selected the 25 players currently on each team. Each Major League organization is represented and players from all full-season Minor Leagues were eligible to be selected.

As part of its live All-Star Week programming, MLB Network will exclusively televise and MLB.com will live stream the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at 7:00 p.m. (ET), with Greg Amsinger, Harold Reynolds, Heidi Watney and MLB Pipeline's Jim Callis on the call live from Progressive Field.

SiriusXM, the Official Satellite Radio Partner of Major League Baseball, will provide live play-by-play coverage of the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on MLB Network Radio (XM channel 89; Sirius channel 209) in addition to SiriusXM's other comprehensive live coverage from Cleveland. The game will also be available to SiriusXM subscribers on the SiriusXM app for smartphones and mobile devices and online at www.siriusXM.com/MLB.
