
Tulsa Oilers "Star Wars Night" Set for Friday

TULSA, OK - A few days from now, on a not-so-distant sheet of ice, a group of rebels known as the Tulsa Oilers will face off against the evil empire of the Wichita Thunder. The Oilers will restore order to the CHL galaxy this Friday, March 21 at 7:35 p.m. on Star Wars Night at the BOK Center.
The Oilers will wear special Star Wars themed jerseys (picture attached) which feature a galactic background as well as the faces of George Lucas' famous characters such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Yoda, C-3P0, and R2-D2. The limited edition, one-of-a-kind jerseys will be auctioned off at the ONEOK Club immediately following the game.
Clips from the Star Wars movies will play on the BOK Center video board throughout the evening and members of the Tulsa Star Force, a local organization of Star Wars enthusiasts, will appear in the arena dressed as authentic Star Wars characters. Oilers fans are also encouraged to embrace the theme of the night by coming in costume as their favorite Star Wars cast member or creature. Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed fans during the first intermission.
Prior to the game, the Oilers are partnering with Kirby Kasting agency to find Oklahoma's next big star. Aspiring actors and singers who buy a ticket to the game will have an opportunity to audition for King Kirby, an acclaimed casting director and talent scout who has worked with HBO, Disney, and All My Children. The casting call begins at 6:30 p.m. inside the BOK Center one hour before puck drop between the Oilers and the Thunder. During the first intermission, fans will have the opportunity to meet Hollywood actor, Drew James. The Tulsa native has starred in feature roles in The Young& The Restless, CSI, True Blood, and Bones. James will be signing photos in a meet and greet with Oilers fans in the Grand Lobby of the BOK Center.
The Oilers and Thunder clash for the 13th meeting of the season in the StoneWolf Casino Cup Series. Tulsa is 7-4-1 against Wichita this season and can clinch the StoneWolf Casino Cup with a victory on Friday night at the BOK Center or a win at INTRUST Bank Arena on Saturday in the series finale. In the chase for the CHL playoffs, the Oilers stand in seventh place, six points up on ninth-place Wichita with six games remaining in the regular season.
The Oilers have won 30 games for only the second time in the last nine seasons are attempting to qualify for the postseason for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign.
