Tulsa 66ers Shoot Past Austin Toros

Austin, TX Dec. 30, 2010 - The Tulsa 66ers defeated the Austin Toros 107-93 Thursday night at Cedar Park Center in front of a record-breaking crowd of over 6,213. Marcus Cousin led the Toros in scoring with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

The 66ers came out on fire and shot 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. Tulsa outscored Austin 34-24 in the first Quarter and 63-43 at the half. The 66ers bench out scored the Toros bench 34-16 in the first half, which helped Tulsa to take control of the game early in the second quarter.

The 66ers were unable to sustain their outstanding shooting performance starting the second half as they shot just 35 percent from the field in the third quarter. The Toros took advantage of the 66ers poor shooting and were able to cut the 66ers lead to seven with a little over nine minutes to play in the fourth. However, the Toros charge was stopped short as the 66ers regained their shooting touch and stretched their lead back out to 18 with 4:30 left in the game.

The Toros' Marcus Cousin and the 66ers' Robert Vaden led all scorers with 21 points. The 66ers had six players in double digit scoring and Latavious Williams recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Marcus Cousin recorded his fifth double-double by adding 11 rebounds to his 21 point performance. Cousin was followed in scoring by Thomas Gardner (12), Michael Joiner and Lance Thomas who both contributed 11 points to the Toros total score.

The Toros (7-7) will face off against the New Mexico Thunderbirds on Friday, December 31. The Tulsa 66ers (9-5) will play the Texas Legends on Saturday, January 1.
