Reno Bighorns News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- After surrendering an early 20-point lead, the Bakersfield Jam used a late three-pointer by Kenny Taylor to earn a 100-97 comeback win over the Reno Bighorns Thursday night in the Jam Events Center.
Bakersfield (9-6) led 39-19 early in the game, but Reno (9-5) ended the first half on a 28-8 run to tie the game heading into the break. The Bighorns would outscore Bakersfield 35-30 in the third frame, but a late Bakersfield rally propelled the Jam to the three-point victory.
Bakersfield was led by Trey Johnson's 23-point night, including a go-ahead three-pointer to put the Jam up 97-94 with 53.5 seconds left in the game. After Reno's D.J. Strawberry dropped a triple of his own to tie the game at 97, Taylor buried his third three-pointer of the game to put Bakersfield ahead for good with just 11.5 seconds left on the clock. Landry and Mo Charlo each had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but both three-point attempts were off the mark.
Jeremy Lin, on assignment from the Golden State Warriors, poured in 20 points for Reno, which fell to 9-5 overall and 2-4 on the road. Marcus Landry added 22 points and nine boards, while Patrick Ewing, Jr. fell two assists shy of his second triple-double of the season, finishing with 13 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.
The Bighorns return home on Saturday, Jan. 1 against the Idaho Stampede. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. PST, and tickets are on-sale now at RenoBighorns.com, ticketmaster.com or the Silver Legacy box office.
Reno Bighorns group tickets and fan experience packages are on sale now by calling the Bighorns front office at (775) 284-2NBA or visiting RenoBighorns.com. Fans can high-five the players, play a game-before-the-game on the Bighorns court, perform a talent routine and more.
