Tucson Padres News Release
The Tucson Padres scored four late runs to seal a 6-1 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Friday and snapped a four game losing streak in the process. Tucson starter Jeremy Hefner had one of his best outings of the season, only allowing one run in seven innings. Luis Perdomo and Brad Brach threw a scoreless inning each to close the game.
Neither team had any baserunners until the bottom of the third and neither side scored until the bottom of the fourth, when Anthony Rizzo hit his fourth home run in five games. The two-run homer to right field put the Padres up 2-0. Scott Beerer hit an RBI double in the fifth to get the Sky Sox within one. The Padres had two rallies late to break the game open. First, Bobby Kielty hit a two-run, pinch hit home run in the seventh and in the eighth the Padres hit three doubles and scored twice. Kielty joined Matt Clark and Andy Parrino as T-Pads with pinch-hit home runs this season.
The Padres have now had three different four game losing streaks but still have never lost more than four in a row. Tucson's longest winning streak is eight games. The Padres have finished the season series with the Rockies Triple-A affiliate, winning 10 games and losing six vs. the Sky Sox. The Padres are 50-56, in third place, 13.5 games behind first place Sacramento.
