SPRINGDALE, AR - Matt Fields' home run in the seventh Wednesday night pushed Northwest Arkansas to a 1-0 victory over Corpus Christi at Arvest Ballpark.

Nick Tropeano went the distance for the Hooks, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out six in a career-high eight innings. Tropeano threw 104 pitches, 76 for strikes.

Corpus Christi (30-22, 72-50) managed two hits on the night - both singles by Enrique Hernandez.

Kyle Zimmer, the Royals' top prospect, made the start for Northwest Arkansas (26-26, 51-71) and authored two perfect innings before leaving due to arm stiffness.

Spencer Patton, Jon Keck (2-3), Sam Runion and Zach Jackson (14) paraded out of the Naturals bullpen, collaborating on Corpus Christi's eighth shutout loss of the season.

Tropeano (6-9) got two quick outs to open the seventh. Fields then cracked his Texas League leading 29th home run onto the berm in right-center.

With one away in the ninth, Ronny Torreyes hit a sharp grounder thru the legs of third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert. The ball was dropped by Whit Merrifield in left, allowing Torreyes to reach second base. Hernandez was next and hit a slow-roller to third, placing the tying run 90 feet away with two out. Max Stassi belted a deep fly ball to right field but Jorge Bonifacio tracked it down for the final out.

The series concludes Thursday night. Ross Seaton aims to stop Corpus Christi's three-game slide. He'll be opposed by Jason Adam. First pitch is 7:05.
