Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

Corpus Christi fans showed their loyalty to Whataburger Field, propelling the Home of the Hooks to sixth-place in 10Best.com/USA Today polling for "Best Minor League Ballpark."

In the stadium's nine-year history, it's twice been named "best venue in North America" by Minor League News.

Views of Corpus Christi's iconic Harbor Bridge and the USS Lexington highlight the ballpark's backdrop, while in-stadium amenities include luxury suites, the Driscoll Children's Hospital Kids Zone, Stripes Diamond, a swimming pool and several group areas. Overhead wood beams, corrugated steel and brick pay tribute to the cotton warehouses which once occupied the site.

Astros affiliates claimed three of the top nine places in polling, with Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, Iowa, home of the Class-A Quad-Cities RiverBandits claiming the top spot. Modern Woodmen Park earned over 40,000 votes to beat out Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, Ky.

Oklahoma City's Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, home of Houston's Triple-A affiliate, finished ninth. The Dell Diamond in Round Rock was seventh.
