
Tri-City Extends Win Streak to Season-High Six Games

AVON, OH - The Tri-City ValleyCats (41-24) won their fifth consecutive series in a row after defeating the Lake Erie Crushers (27-38) by a score of 7-3 on Saturday at Mercy Health Stadium.
Tri-City opened the scoring. Yasel Santana issued a walk to Pavin Parks and Cito Culver in the first. Jakob Goldfarb ripped a two-run double to pull the ValleyCats ahead, 2-0.
Tri-City extended its lead in the second. Tanner Smith singled, stole second, and went to third on a throwing error from John Tucillo. Jaxon Hallmark walked, and then stole second base. Parks singled home a run. Goldfarb collected his third RBI of the evening with a single. Juan Kelly had an RBI groundout to put the ValleyCats on top, 5-0.
Lake Erie got on the board in the fourth. Jack Harris and Jarrod Watkins singled off Dan Beebe. Josh Rego flew out to right, and Harris scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 5-1.
The Crushers made it a two-run game in the fifth. Sam Frontino walked and Jiandido Tromp singled. Zach Racusin knocked in a run with a single, and Tromp went to third. Harris hit an RBI fielder's choice to make it a 5-3 affair.
Tri-City added a couple of insurance runs in the ninth. Hallmark walked, and swiped second for his 30th bag of the season. Parks brought in Hallmark with a double. Three batters later, Kelly plated Parks with a two-bagger to provide the ValleyCats with a 7-3 advantage.
Beebe (5-1) earned the win. He tossed five frames, allowing three runs on five hits, walking one, and striking out seven. Greg Veliz, Blake Workman, and Coleman Huntley combined for four shutout frames to quiet the Crushers.
Santana (2-5) received the loss. He pitched six frames, allowing five runs on five hits, walking four, and striking out four.
Tri City goes for the sweep in Lake Erie tomorrow, Sunday, July 30. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 PM.
