March 14, 2005 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Trax News Release

The Macon Trax were perfect last week winning all four games and adding 8 points to their SPHL standings. The Trax are currently tied for second place in the SPHL with Jacksonville. The team finishing in second place wins a bye in the opening round of the play-offs.

Tuesday – March 8th – Trax win 7 – 6 OT vs. Knoxville Ice Bears

The first place team from Knoxville invaded the Centreplex for what would be a dramatic game. Macon took an early lead and held on to it until the final period when they allowed their opponents four straight goals. The Ice Bears were leading 5 – 3 well into the final frame until the Trax came up big with three goals of their own to recapture the lead. With 1:34 left on the game clock K.C. Caudill (Knox) sent the game to overtime with the tying goal. The three on three overtime was short and sweet as Macon's speedy #55 David Deeves scored the game winner at the 2:09 mark.

Thursday – March 10th – Trax win 5 – 4 vs. Winston-Salem Polar Twins

The Trax loaded up the bus and headed to Winston-Salem with a very short bench. Missing from the line-up were Chris Duggan (injury) and two defensemen Tom Wilson and Art Mnatsakanov both serving suspensions. The Polar Twins who are out of the play off scenario took a commanding lead in the second period scoring three straight goals making the score 3 – 1. Macon had to dig deep, but was able to muster two goals of their own to begin the third period with a 3-3 tie. The Polar Twins regained the lead in the third period, and held on tight until the last minute. During the final minute Trax Captain Steve Zoryk lit the lamp with the equalizer and with only 7 seconds left Lou Dimasi scored the game winner.

Friday – March 11th – Trax win 6 – 2 vs. Huntsville Havoc

The team from Huntsville came to Macon with ambitions of strengthening their SPHL standings, but would find out the Trax wouldn't allow that to happen. Macon took a two goal lead in the first period and never looked back. The Trax put two goals on the scoreboard in each period while only allowing the Havoc to find the net twice.

Saturday – March 12th – Trax win 5 – 3 vs. Knoxville Ice Bears

The Macon Trax loaded the bus and headed north to face the first place team in Knoxville for the second time in four days. Pre-game ceremonies included the awarding of the Commissioners Cup to the Ice Bears for securing the number one spot in the SPHL. The Trax came out off the bench strong again with a two goal lead allowing the Ice Bears to come with only one goal throughout the rest of the game.
