Aces Pszenyczny and Scally Honored Saturday Night

March 14, 2005 - SPHL (SPHL)
Asheville Aces News Release

Asheville Aces defenseman Dan Pszenyczny and goalie Mark Scally were presented with the inaugural team awards following the last home game of the 2004-2005 season Saturday night versus the Columbus Cottonmouths. Pszenyczny was awarded the David Dore Hockey Spirit Award and Scally was presented the team MVP trophy.

Pat Dore, wife of the late David Dore, was on hand with her daughter and two grandchildren to present the awards. The David Dore Hockey Spirit Award is presented to the player who best embodies the commitment and passion to the game of hockey that David possessed throughout his life. Pszenyczny was the clear choice after playing through tremendous pain all season and demonstrating a passion for winning and the game of hockey.

Scally, who took on the majority of the workload in net this season, was the recipient of the team Most Valuable Player award. Not only was Scally the coaches' choice for the award, the fans in the Civic Center chose him as well - chanting his name before the winner was announced. Both trophies will be on display in the Aces office and each player will receive a replica.
