Trax advance to SPHL Finals

With the semi-final series tied at one game a piece, the Macon Trax played in a decisive game 3 last night vs. the Jacksonville Barracudas and executed Head Coach Tommy Stewart's game plan to a tee. The Trax came out with a vengeance and took the game by the score of 7-1. Steve Zoryk scored two goals in the game while Lou Dimasi, Mark Allen, Edan Welch, Ryan Rivard and David Deeves all chipped in with one goal each. Mark Cairns was the winning goaltender for the Trax stopping 17 of 18 shots on goal. The lone goal for Jacksonville was scored by Brent Rumble. Goaltender Kelly Shields took the loss for the Barracudas saving 26 of 33 shots in the game. Macon won the series 2-1.

In the other semi-final series, the Columbus Cottonmouths defeated the Knoxville Ice Bears 3-2 in overtime last night to complete the sweep of the SPHL Regular Season Champion Ice Bears 2-0.

This sets up a best of 3 Championship Series between the Trax and Cottonmouths with the series starting at the Macon Centreplex on Thursday, March 31st at 7:35 PM. Game 2 will be in Columbus on Friday, April 1st at 7:30 PM and game 3, if necessary would be played in Columbus on Sunday, April 3 at 7:00 PM.

The following is a look at the Trax best of 3 President's Cup Championship Series schedule:

Game 1-Thursday, March 31st vs. Columbus at the Macon Centreplex at 7:35 PM.

Game 2-Friday, April 1st vs. Columbus in Columbus at 7:30 PM

Game 3-Sunday, April 3rd vs. Columbus in Columbus at 7:00 PM, if necessary

Tickets are on sale now at the Macon Trax office, Macon Centreplex Box Office, as well as any Ticketmaster Outlet, including Columbus. Please call Heather at the Trax office at 478-742-4TIX (4849), ext. 1 to be a part of our Championship Run. Groups of 15 or more will be offered a Group rate. Season ticket holders may use ‘bonus' tickets found in their books, but these must be redeemed at the Trax office for an actual ticket.
