Macon Trax News Release
As a result of the Huntsville Havoc 4-3 overtime victory versus the Jacksonville Barracudas Sunday night, the Macon Trax have finished in second place in the inaugural season of the Southern Professional Hockey League. The Trax have played tremendously inspired hockey to conclude the Regular Season and finished with an 11-2 record over the last 13 games. The Trax enter the playoffs as the hottest team in the SPHL.
The top six teams in the SPHL receive invitations to the playoffs with the number one and two seeds receiving a bye in the first round and an automatic berth into the semi-finals. Here is a look at the final regular season standings for the top six teams:
1. Knoxville Ice Bears (receive 1st round bye)
2. Macon Trax (receive 1st round bye)
3. Jacksonville Barracudas
4. Fayetteville FireAntz
5. Columbus Cottonmouths
6. Huntsville Havoc
In the first round, one series will see the number 3 seed Jacksonville play host to the number 6 seed Huntsville on Wednesday night. The other first round series will have the number 4 seed Fayetteville play host to the number 5 seed Columbus on Wednesday night as well. The first round will be an elimination game with the winners moving on to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, the Knoxville Ice Bears as the first seed will be awaiting the lowest seed remaining after the elimination game while the Trax opponent will be the highest seed remaining. The Trax will play their first game on Friday, March 25th in the best 2 out of 3 series.
If Jacksonville or Columbus is the Trax opponent, the series schedule will be as follows:
Game 1-Friday, March 25th in Jacksonville or Columbus
Game 2 in Macon on Saturday, March 26th at 6:05 PM.
Game 3 if necessary in Macon on Sunday, March 27th at 6:05 PM.
If Fayetteville is the Trax opponent, the series schedule will be as follows:
Game 1-Friday, March 25th in Macon at 7:15 PM.
Game 2-Saturday, March 26th in Fayetteville
Game 3, if necessary in Macon on Sunday, March 27th at 6:05 PM.
Tickets are on sale now only at the Macon Trax office. Please call Heather at 478-742-4TIX (4849), ext. 1 to be a part of the action. Groups of 15 or more will be offered a Group rate. Season ticket holders may use âbonus' tickets found in their books, but these must be redeemed for an actual ticket.
