Arkansas Travelers News Release
Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers walked off on the Tulsa Drillers 7-6 in 12 innings on Wednesday afternoon at Dickey-Stephens Park.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th and two outs, SS Angel Rosa popped a ball up to center that was affected by the wind. 2B Brandon Trinkwon looked like he was going to be able to make the catch, but the ball fell about 30 feet behind second base that allowed the game-winning run to score. The hit was Rosa's first in Double-A.
The wind-affected pop up was the third of the day that fell in for the Travs.
Arkansas trailed 6-5 in the ninth with one out when 1B Eric Aguilera launched a game-tying home run on a 3-2 pitch over the right field fence.
The Travs also trailed 5-1 in the game and plated two runs in the sixth and two in the eighth to even the score 5-5.
Arkansas 2B Alex Yarbrough finished 4-for-6 and Aguilera went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and the home run.
RF Cal Towey also hit a home run, his second of the season, for the Travs.
LHP Edward Paredes (W, 1-0) tossed 3.1 dominant scoreless innings in relief for Arkansas. The southpaw allowed only one hit with no walks and six strikeouts. The 3.1 innings was the longest outing for Paredes in over six years.
The win for Arkansas was its first when trailing entering the ninth. The four-run deficit was also the largest overcome in a victory.
CF Alex Verdugo finished 4-for-6 with two runs and an RBI for Tulsa.
The Travs went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position and are 4-for-26 in the series.
With the win, Arkansas improved to 12-14 on the season. The two teams will play game three of the four-game series on Thursday night at Dickey-Stephens Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
