San Antonio Missions News Release

San Antonio's struggles against Frisco grew Thursday night following an 11-4 loss in front of 4,391 at Wolff Stadium.

Thursday night's contest did not start well for Missions' right-hander Bryce Morrow, who allowed a run in each of the first three innings to give the 'Riders an early lead.

Frisco pushed its advantage to 4-0 against Morrow (0-3) in the fifth courtesy of a Ronald Guzman RBI double to left.

An inning later, the 'Riders padded the lead to 9-0 with a five-run outburst off reliever Rafael De Paula, highlighted by Ryan Cordell's two-RBI triple to left.

San Antonio's bats finally came alive in the bottom of the frame against Frisco southpaw Frank Lopez. Gabriel Quintana opened the sixth with a double, his fifth of the season. After Chase Jensen worked a walk, catcher Ryan Miller got the Missions on the board when he followed with a blast onto the berm in left. The three-run homer was Miller's first at the Double-A level. An Auston Bousfield walk and a Jose Rondon single ended the night for Lopez (3-0). Yeison Asencio capped the San Antonio rally when he drove in Bousfield with a single off replacement, Jose Leclerc.

The RoughRiders added the last two runs of the night via the long ball, Guzman off Ramon Benjamin in the eighth and Preston Beck off Kyle Bartsch in the ninth.

The win for Frisco was their 10th straight against San Antonio, with seven coming in 2016 alone.

San Antonio (9-18) concludes its four-game series with Frisco (20-6) Friday night at 7:05 PM. The first 1,500 fans to enter The Wolff will receive a free Misiones T-shirt courtesy of The Smile Generation. Luis Diaz (2-2, 5.72) will get the ball for the Missions in Friday night's finale, while the first-place 'Riders look for the sweep with fellow righty Connor Sadzeck (3-0, 2.93).
