
Travs Drop Seventh Straight on Wednesday

North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers squandered another early lead on Wednesday night, falling 7-3 to the Corpus Christi Hooks at Dickey-Stephens Park.
2B Sherman Johnson led off the bottom of the first with a home run for Arkansas and C Anthony Bemboom homered in the second to put the Travs up 2-0, but the Hooks countered with seven straight runs to follow.
Travs starter RHP Chris Ellis (L, 5-2) walked six over five innings and allowed three runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
Arkansas walked a season-high 10 batters in the loss.
Corpus Christi tied the game 2-2 with two runs in the third and took the lead for good in the fifth.
Hooks starter RHP Matt Musgrove (W, 4-0) tossed six innings and allowed two runs on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. Despite earning the victory, Musgrove walked more than one batter for the first time in any outing (eight games) and allowed more than one earned run for just the second time with the Hooks.
With a single in the eighth, Travs CF Chad Hinshaw extended his consecutive games on-base streak to 21 straight.
DH Raywilly Gomez finished 0-for-4 and snapped his 10-game hitting streak.
Johnson had the lone multi-hit game for Arkansas, finishing 2-for-4.
The Travs went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
LHP Chris Cotton tossed two innings after Musgrove and allowed an unearned run and RHP Vince Velasquez pitched a hitless ninth.
With the loss, Arkansas has now dropped a season-most seven games in a row and falls to 59-56 on the year.
The Travs will try to salvage the final game of the three-game set on Thursday night at Dickey-Stephens Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
