
Drillers Rally Late to Take Series Finale

FRISCO, TEXAS (August 12, 2015) - The Tulsa Drillers battled back and took the series with a 5-4 victory over the Frisco RoughRiders on Thursday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Nate Samson came through with a ninth inning single cap the comeback victory for the Drillers.
Trailing by two, Tulsa tied the game in the top of the eighth. After Samson doubled, Brandon Trinkwon followed with an RBI single. With two outs, Jarek Cunningham doubled to tie the game at four.
Jesus Pirela (0-3) dropped the decision, allowing the go-ahead run in the ninth inning. Pirela walked two and struck out three over 1 1/3 innings. Ramon Benjamin (1-1) picked up the win after tossing a scoreless eighth frame.
Tied at three in the fifth, Luis Marte led off with a single and was bunted into scoring position by Ryan Cordell. Mendez knocked a triple down the right field line and the Riders broke a tie to take a 3-2 lead. In the sixth, Alex Burg added to the lead with a home run over the left field scoreboard to make it a 4-2 game.
The Riders and Drillers traded runs over the first four frames. Frisco went ahead when Trever Adams doubled, reached third on a passed ball, and then home on a wild pitch to put the Riders on top, 1-0. Lewis Brinson picked up his 16th RBI since joining Frisco with a single and the Riders led 2-1.
Tulsa tied the contest again in the back-and-forth affair with a run in the fourth. Frisco starter Connor Sadzeck allowed three straight singles to start the frame, including an RBI-single from Erisbel Arruebarrena to score Samson and tie the game at 2-2. Sadzeck tossed four innings of two-run ball and picked up a no decision.
Ryan Dennick stranded the tying run at third base and earned his third save to finish off the 5-4 victory for Tulsa.
The Riders welcome the Springfield Cardinals to Dr Pepper Ballpark on Friday night. LHP Frank Lopez takes the mound for Frisco and squares off against RHP Alex Reyes in the 7:05 start.
