Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Funnel clouds in Dallas caused the cancellation of one flight and the delay of another, resulting in the Albuquerque Isotopes' series opening game with the Memphis Redbirds Tuesday night to be postponed. The game will be made up tomorrow as part of a double-header beginning at 12:05 Mountain Time at AutoZone Park.
After arriving in Dallas from Albuquerque this morning without incident, the Isotopes' regularly scheduled 1:00 PM American Airlines flight to Memphis was cancelled due to weather, forcing the team to hastily book tickets on the next flight out, which was scheduled to depart at 3:35 PM. That flight didn't get off the ground, however, until 5:05 PM, meaning the Isotopes team was stranded in the Dallas/Fort Worth airport for more than seven long hours before finally taking off for Memphis. With the new arrival time slated for 6:41 PM, the Memphis club decided to postpone tonight's game to ensure the âTopes arrived in town without further complication.
The postponement marks the first time in team history the Isotopes have been unable to start a game due to commercial airline snafu.
In the first game of tomorrow's twin-bill, the Isotopes will throw left-hander Chris Seddon (5-4, 3.97) against Memphis righty P.J. Walters, while in the second contest, right-hander Dallas Trahern (1-6, 6.70) will take the mound for Albuquerque against Redbirds right-hander Clayton Mortensen. Both games can be heard on KTBL 1050-AM, with pre-game beginning at 11:50 AM Mountain Time.
After four quick games in three days in Memphis, the âTopes return home this Saturday for a homestand packed with promotions such as appearances by Birdzerk! and Myron Noodleman, as well as magnet schedule and Isotope beads giveaways. Tickets can be purchased at Isotopes Park or any Ticketmaster outlet, www.ticketmaster.com, or Ticketmaster by phone 505-883-7800.
