Tracy's blast leads Lynx to 5-2 win

First baseman Andy Tracy broke open a 2-1 game with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning, as the Ottawa Lynx defeated the Indianapolis Indians by the score of 5-2 on Wednesday night. Brandon Fahey went 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored for the Lynx, while five Ottawa pitchers combined to give up four hits and strike out 13.

The win improves the Lynx record to 4-2 on the season. Ottawa completes their opening homestand tomorrow, Thursday April 13th, with a 1:05 pm afternoon matchup against Indianapolis.

Player Of The Game: Andy Tracy blasted his second homer of the year and drove in three runs for the Lynx. Honorable mention to the Lynx pitching staff, who gave up only four hits while giving up two unearned runs.

Game Recap: After having the Indians score first inning runs in the first two games of this series, it was the Lynx who jumped out to an early lead in this contest. Ed Rogers led off the game with a double to deep center, moved to third on a Brandon Fahey grounder and scored on Eddy Garabito's RBI ground ball to first. Ottawa added a second run in the 2nd, as Keith Reed lined a two-out single to center and stole second. Rogers moved Reed third with an infield hit, and Brandon Fahey brought the second Lynx run home with a perfect bunt base hit down the third base line. The Indians cut the lead in half in the third, scoring a run off Lynx starter Cory Morris, who rejoined the club today after being optioned from Baltimore. The Lynx extended their lead in the bottom of the 4th after a :57 minute rain delay. Keith Reed lined a single to center an moved to third one out later on Brandon Fahey's line drive single to right. After Eddy Garabito's soft liner to short went for the second out, Andy Tracy blasted his second homer of the year, an opposite field shot, putting the Lynx up 5-1. The Indians would score an unearned run in the 6th off of Winston Abreu, but would get no closer as the Lynx held on to the 5-2 victory. The Lynx bullpen gave up only one unearned run in 6.0 innings of one-hit relief, while striking out 10. Julio Manon pitched a scoreless 9th inning to collect his third save of the season.

Next Game: The Lynx and Indians meet in the final game of this four-game set on Thursday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 pm.
