The Lynx Pitching Staff Combined For 13 Strikeouts On The Night

OTTAWA, Ontario -- First baseman Andy Tracy hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to lift Ottawa past Indianapolis, 5-2, Wednesday night at Lynx Stadium.

The Indians, who have still outscored their opponents 30-13 in seven games this season, fall to 4-3 with the loss. The Lynx pick up their first win of the series and improve to 4-2 on the season.

Tracy's long ball -- which cleared the left-field wall -- came after a 57-minute rain delay and gave Ottawa a four-run cushion.

The Lynx bullpen did the rest, allowing just one run over the final five innings of the contest. RHP Winston Abreu (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 SO), RHP Eddy Rodriguez (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 SO) took no-decisions, while RHP Julio Manon (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 SO) tossed a scoreless ninth for his third save of the season.

Ottawa RHP Cory Morris (3.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) blanked the Indians before the rain delay and RHP Chris Piersoll (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO) tossed a scoreless fourth frame to pick up the win. The five Lynx hurlers combined for 13 strikeouts in the win.

Indianapolis RHP Brandon Duckworth (3.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 1 SO) was pinned with the loss, falling to 1-1 on the season.

The Indians could not take advantage of three Ottawa errors as they left seven men on base and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Indianapolis continued to play stellar defensive, extending its errorless streak to seven games.

SS Brandon Fahey went 3-for-4 with a triple, run and RBI to lead Ottawa. No individual had more than one base knock for the Indians.

The two teams return to Lynx Stadium Thursday afternoon at 1:05 p.m., for the final game of the four-game set. RHP Marty McLeary is scheduled for Indianapolis, while RHP Brian Bowles is expected to get the nod for Ottawa.

The game will be carried by ESPN-950 AM and IndyIndians.com as Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley have the call. Thursday's pre-game show begins at 12:45 p.m.
