Lake County Captains News Release

(Asheville, NC)—Nathan Panther led off Thursday's Captains game with a towering home run to center field in Asheville. It only got better from there.

The Captains equaled a season-high with 15 hits, including six singles in a row during a six-run eighth inning rally, and trounced the Asheville Tourists 11-3 at McCormick Field.

Two Captains pitchers combined on a four-hitter. Daniel Eisentrager earned his 10th win of the season, going the first 5 1/3 innings. Eisentrager (10-1) allowed four hits and two runs. He walked two and struck out three. Lefty Shea Douglas followed Eisentrager with 3 2/3 innings of hitless baseball to pick up his eighth save.

Panther gave the Captains a 1-0 lead in the first by driving a 3-2 pitch over the wall for his 10th home run of the season. It extended Panther's hitting streak to nine games.

Bill Peavey's two-run homer in the third inning snapped a 1-1 tie. It was Peavey's first homer of the year for the Captains, and came off Darren Clarke (6-5) after Shaun Larkin had doubled with one out.

The Captains (33-13, 81-35) broke the game open in the eighth when the first six hitters of the inning stroked singles. Julio Garcia, Panther, Chris De La Cruz, and Shaun Larkin all had RBI's in the inning.

Michael Aubrey led the Captains with three hits on the night, extending his hitting streak to a personal-best eight games.

The Captains and Tourists will meet again on Friday evening at 7:00 for game three of the series.
