
Goas to Provo; Lincoln arrives

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa â The Cedar Rapids Kernels announced Thursday that right-handed pitcher Adrian Goas has been re-assigned to Provo of the Pioneer (Rookie) League and southpaw Matt Lincoln has joined the Kernels from Mesa of the Arizona (Rookie) League. Lincoln will meet the Kernels in South Bend, where they open a four-game series tonight.
Goas joined the Kernels from Provo on July 4. In 11 appearances with the Kernels, Goas was 0-0 with one save and a 4.80 ERA. In 15 innings, he allowed 13 hits and 11 runs (eight earned), walked 16 and struck out nine.
Lincoln was 0-0 with two saves and a 1.08 ERA in six relief appearances at Mesa. In 8.1 innings, he allowed two his and two runs (one earned), walked six and struck out 14.
Lincoln was the eighth-round draft pick of the Chicago Cubs in the June 2003 draft as a freshman out of Santa Ana (Calif.) Junior College. He signed a contract with the Cubs, but the contract was voided, making him a free agent. He signed with the Angels.
Lincoln was 11-2 with 121 strikeouts and was the Orange Empire Conference co-Pitcher of the Year last spring.
