Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

Touchdown Manitoba will take place Friday, November 19th, from 1–6 p.m. at the Lansdowne Park Salons in Ottawa.  This will be the biggest Manitoba social our nation's capital has ever seen, and THE party to be at during Grey Cup week 2004.

Now in its 12th year, this celebration combines Winnipeg hospitality, the tradition of Friendly Manitoba, and Canadian football fun for an afternoon of non-stop entertainment.  Those attending will be treated to a non-stop lineup featuring rock ‘n' roll band Cherry Suede, a music DJ and performances by guest entertainers from the cities of the Canadian Football League including the Labatt Blue Lightning Dance Team and the Winnipeg Police Pipe Band.

Ticket price includes a special limited edition Touchdown Manitoba 2004 lapel pin (while supplies last) and a delicious snack buffet (while snacks last), and attendees will also have the opportunity to win some great prizes.  Tickets are only $10 in advance ($12 at the door) and are on sale now across Canada through Ticketmaster...in Manitoba call (204) 780-3333.

According to Touchdown Manitoba President Cathy Garski "Touchdown Manitoba combines one of Manitoba's greatest traditions – The Social – with all the fun and frenzy of Grey Cup week.  I encourage everyone to get their tickets early because we expect another sellout crowd of well over a thousand people to party with us in Ottawa."

A legacy of the first Winnipeg Grey Cup festival in 1991, the inaugural Touchdown Manitoba social was held in Calgary in 1993.  Since then, Touchdown Manitoba has established a reputation as one of the "don't miss" parties of Grey Cup week and the meeting place for Blue Bomber fans from across Canada.

Touchdown Manitoba Inc. is an independent, non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting Winnipeg and Manitoba, and maintaining a grassroots presence for the city and province every year at the Grey Cup.  Working throughout the year, organizers accomplish this goal by staging "Touchdown Manitoba", a huge Manitoba-style social held annually in the Grey Cup host city as part of the festivities leading up to the big game.
