Toronto, ON - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club would like to congratulate kick returner Bashir Levingston for being named the CFL's Special Teams Player of the Month. This is the second time in 2004 (June/July) that Levingston has earned this award.

Levingston's stats for the month of October speak for themselves: 6 punt returns for 36 yards, 7 kickoff returns for 210 yards (30 yds/ret) and 1 touchdown, and 1 missed field goal return for 115 yards and 1 touchdown.

The speedy returner's most remarkable performance of the month came in Week 19 when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats arrived at SkyDome. With post-season home field advantage on the line, he stepped up and recorded two kick returns for touchdowns in the first quarter of play, including one on the opening kickoff. His 97-yard kickoff return touchdown was the third in his career, tying him for second place in CFL history for most kickoff return touchdowns in a career (Hal Patterson & recent Hall of Fame inductee Larry Highbaugh), and making him the first-ever Argonaut to accomplish the feat. His second touchdown of the night was a 115 yard missed field goal return, the second of his career and the season. Player of the Month judge Ellison Kelly remarked on Levingston's blazing speed: "They say speed kills and Levingston certainly has a lot of speed. He also has explosive moves and was a threat to break games open or to alter momentum at any time with a long kick return. His outstanding work played a major role in two Argo wins last month."

Linebacker Mike O'Shea, who recently earned his first CFL Player of the Week award since 1997, was recognized as second runner-up for Defensive Player of the Month. Arland Bruce III also received honouable mention as the CFL Special Teams Player of the Month.

The Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, having celebrated their 130th anniversary in 2003. The Toronto Argonauts have 14 Grey Cup championships to their credit.
