Torrez Joins Cougars

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, have announced that pitcher Daury Torrez has joined the Cougars from the Cubs' extended spring training complex in Arizona, while pitcher Tayler Scott has been moved to the disabled list. Today's roster move maintains an active squad of 25 players as the team continues a three-game series at Cedar Rapids this evening at 6:35 p.m.

Torrez (Non-Drafted Free Agent, 2010) pitched in 12 games with the Arizona Cubs (Rookie) this summer, going 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA. Two of the 12 appearances were starts. The right-hander last pitched on August 24, pitching six innings of three-hit ball and striking out six. The 2013 season is his first in the United States after spending 2011 and 2012 with the Cubs' Dominican League squad. Scott (5th Round, 2011) was on the Cougars' Opening Day roster and led the team with 24 starts. The right-hander went 6-8 with a 4.22 ERA and pitched 130 innings. In his final outing of the season on August 24, Scott picked up the win against Wisconsin.
