Burlington Bees News Release

The Beloit Snappers used two three-run innings to defeat the Burlington Bees 6-5 on Thursday night at Pohlman Field.

It has been a flurry of one-run games for the Burlington Bees (53-78, 27-39) in the last several days, and in tonight's contest, the Bees fell just short, stranding 10 men on base in a one-run loss.

Pat Lowery surrendered three runs, one earned in five innings, but the offense could not help him avoid his 10th loss of the season. Lowery (4-10) gave up three runs in third inning. Aaron Shipman led off with a walk, Christopher Bostick followed with a single and with one out, Matt Olson walked to load the bases. Renato Nunez lifted a deep fly ball to center that was dropped by Chevy Clarke, allowing Shipman and Bostick to score. Delgado singled home Olson with two outs for the third run.

The Bees came within one run, scoring one in the fourth off of Derek DeYoung (8-5) on a two-out single by Julio Concepcion that scored Zach Wright and one in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Concepcion that brought home Exicardo Cayones.

Beloit (76-60, 33-33) answered with three runs in the sixth against Eswarlin Jimenez. Ryan Delgado, Brett Vertigan and Dayton Alexander started the frame with back-to-back-to-back singles, with Alexander's hit scoring Delgado. Alexander stole second and on the throw to second, Angel Rosa stepped in front of second and dropped the ball, allowing Vertigan to come home. Alexander stole third and scored on a fielder's choice groundout by Bostick.

Burlington threatened in the seventh, starting the inning with back-to-back singles by Riley Good and Wendell Soto. Good scored on a sacrifice fly by Hinkle with out. In the eighth, Burlington loaded the bases and scored two on a two-out single by Soto.

Austin House (S, 9) hurled 1 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball to earn his ninth save of the year.

Burlington and Beloit will face off in the rubber match of the series on Friday night as Tyler DeLoach will oppose Kyle Finnegan. The game will be streamed only at gobees.com and will not be on 1490 KBUR.
