
Toros Host All-Star Saturday

AUSTIN, TX (April 3, 2009) - The Austin Toros kick-off the first weekend of April (4th) with a Saturday jam packed with dancing, celebrities and three basketball games in one day.
Jr. NBA Regional Competition begins at 10 a.m. and showcases the regional finalists for the NBA's skills contest for children between the ages of 9 and 14. Boys and girls compete separately in three levels of competition to showcase their shooting, dribbling and passing skills. Winners of their respective divisions will advance to the national round of the competition.
The Second Annual Michael Huff Celebrity Basketball Game tips-off at 12:30 p.m. and will feature NFL players and former Longhorn athletes including Roy Williams (Cowboys), Kasey Studdard (Texans) and Aaron Ross (Giants). Proceeds from the Celebrity Basketball Game will benefit the Dell Children's Medical Center and Women Called Moses Center. Tickets are $20 and include entry to the Toros game.
From 1 to 3 p.m., the Capital City Dance Team will host the Austin Toros Dance Clinic for children from 7 to 16 years old. Participants in the Dance Clinic will perform at halftime of Saturday's game against Iowa. The fee of $25.00 covers cost of the clinic and includes a t-shirt and ticket to the game.
Austin's best women's high school basketball players will be showcased in the Second Annual Dennis Johnson Memorial High School All-Star Game at 5 p.m. Over 20 players from the Austin area were selected for the All-Star team and will compete in a North vs. South team format.
San Antonio Spurs assignee Malik Hairston and the Austin Toros take the court at 7:30 p.m. against the Iowa Energy. The defending Southwest Division champions are in position to make their second straight NBA D-League Playoffs appearance and begin their quest for the 2009 NBA D-League championship.
