AUSTIN, TX Feb. 23, 2014 - Courtney Fells scored a season-high 32 points, but the Austin Toros fell to the Santa Cruz Warriors 103-123 Sunday afternoon at Cedar Park Center.
Four Toros scored in the double-digits, Courtney Fells (32), Jonathan Simmons (17), Luke Zeller (14) and Flip Murray (18).
The Santa Cruz Warriors finished with six players in double-digits including Domini McGuire (15), Daniel Nwaelele (17), Seth Curry (21), Joe Alexander (20), Cameron Jones who recorded a double-double (17 points, 11 rebounds), and Ognjen Kuzmic who recorded a double-double and a season-high for rebounds (15 points, 24 rebounds).
The Warriors came out strong in the first quarter, outscoring the Toros 41-16 due in part to double-digit contributions from Daniel Nwaelele (10) and Seth Curry (13). The Warriors led 73-43 at the half. Courtney Fells scored 10 points to start the third quarter, and the team outscored the Warriors 60-50 in the second half but the Toros couldn't overcome the early deficit.
Today's game ends the regular season play between the Toros (14-20) and the Warriors (19-14). The Toros travel to Springfield to take on the Armor, Thursday, February 27 at 7PM. The Warriors will face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Wednesday, February 26 at 8PM.
