Toronto Marlies News Release
Last Week
The Marlies continued their hunt for a playoff spot this past week, playing to a 3-0-0-0 record at home. The Lake Erie Monsters were the first to visit Ricoh Coliseum, joining the Marlies in their first ever Star Wars night. The two teams would play a closely contested game, taking a 1- 1 score into overtime. Greg McKegg, who had the Marlies first goal, would play hero in overtime scoring the game winner late in the extra frame. The next day brought the Rochester Americans to town for a 3:00 p.m. contest. The Marlies would emerge with a 4-1 victory with goals from William Nylander, Greg McKegg, Josh Leivo and Matt Frattin who scored the game winner and his 20th goal of the year. The Marlies would close out their three game week with the last school day game this season, bringing the Oklahoma City Barons to Ricoh Coliseum on Wednesday. The Marlies would find themselves down twice, but battled back, bolstered by a two goal performance from Byron Froese. In addition to a strong weekend of play, Froese was signed to an AHL contract by the Marlies for the 2015-16 season.
