SYRACUSE, N.Y. - One of Central New York's most recognizable hockey moms Christie Casciano of NewsChannel 9 is taking over the official Syracuse Crunch Twitter account, @SyracuseCrunch, during Saturday's home game against the Rochester Americans. Casciano, who normally tweets from @CCasciano, will be assisted by her producer Erik Talbot, who's handle is @erikwtalbot.
"We're looking forward to teaming up and facing off with Crunch fans for a night of upbeat tweets," said Casciano. "I'll be keeping an eye on the fun in the stands with fans and Erik will make sure you don't miss a moment of the action on the ice.
Casciano's children's books, The Puck Hog 1 and 2, have been recognized nationally by Positive Coaching Alliance as "delightful books that teach an important lesson about teamwork." The mom of two hockey players also writes a monthly parent advice column for USA Hockey Magazine.
Casciano, a graduate of Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications, is the recipient of numerous community and professional awards including the Syracuse Press Club's Professional Standards Award, the Governor's Traffic Safety Award, The New York State Gang Violence Task Force Media Award and received a proclamation from the Onondaga County Executive naming December 29, 2012 as Christie Casciano Day. She also teamed up with NewsChannel 9's Lou Gulino and Tim Fox to write Syracuse Television History.
Previous Syracuse Crunch Twitter Takeovers this season have been sports media personality Brent Axe and Kim Brown, the assistant director for alumni programs at Syracuse University Career Services.
