Lodge, Blomqvist to Join IceCaps

The St. John's IceCaps, in conjunction with the Winnipeg Jets, announced two roster moves Thursday.

The Jets re-assigned forward Axel Blomqvist (BLAWM-kvihst) to St. John's, while the IceCaps signed forward Jimmy Lodge to an amateur tryout contract.

Blomqvist, 20, split the 2014-15 season with the Victoria Royals and Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL, combining for 59 points (25G, 34A) and 16 penalty minutes in 61 games. The 6'6, 212-pound undrafted forward from Osby, Sweden was signed to a three-year entry level contract prior to the 2013-14 season.

Lodge, 20, was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the 3rd round (84th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. In 2014-15, the native of Downingtown, PA notched 63 points (28G, 35A) and 53 penalty minutes in 58 games with the Saginaw Spirit and Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL.
