Academy Notes

The Kia Toronto FC Academy Junior team will participate in the Generation Adidas Cup Finals in Dallas, Texas from April 14-20. The team will depart on Wednesday, April 9 and will train in Dallas ahead of the tournament. The team has been placed in Group B and will meet Real Salt Lake (April 14), LA Galaxy (April 15) and Stoke City (England) on April 17, in the group stage.

Toronto FC Pro Player Clinics

About: Registration is now open to youth aged 6-15 years of all skills levels for our instructional half-day clinics at Toronto FC's Kia Training Ground and Academy at Downsview Park. Each clinic is hosted with the help of a Toronto FC First Team player and is designed to improve technical skills in a fun and positive environment.

Note: Toronto FC goalkeeper Joe Bendik will be taking part in positional Goalie & Striker Clinics on April 13.

April 7-11th - MLSE Shape Up Week with the TCDSB

April 10th - MLSE Shape Up School visit as part of Shape Up Week, with Doneil Henry

Last Week: Toronto FC defeated the Columbus Crew by a score of 2-0, despite the absence of Captain Steven Caldwell (suspended), defender Doneil Henry, midfielder Jonathan Osorio and forward Jermain Defoe (injured).

Michael Bradley's relentless play led to the first goal of the game in the 11th minute. The Reds continued to play a disciplined game and were rewarded with a second goal in the 85th minute. Second half substitute, Issey Nakajima-Farran, scored his first MLS goal to clinch the game for Toronto FC. Júlio César earned his second clean sheet with Toronto FC.

Rookie and Ohio native Nick Hagglund made his MLS and Toronto FC debut.

Wilmington Hammerheads FC

Wilmington Hammerheads FC drew the Harrisburg City Islanders 0-0 last Saturday. Wilmington's next game is Saturday April 12 when they travel to Highmark Stadium to face the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

Look Ahead

Toronto FC will take on the Colorado Rapids this weekend at BMO Field. The Rapids defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps FC last weekend by a 2-1 score. Colorado Rapids currently sits fourth in the Western Conference with 7 points and a record of 2-1-1. Forward Vicente Sánchez currently leads the team in goals (4). Last season, the Rapids finished fifth in the Western Conference with 51 points and a record of 14-11-9. In the last meeting between these two clubs, Colorado Rapids beat Toronto FC 1-0 on May 4, 2013 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The Reds are 7-4-1 all-time against the Rapids.
