Quotables

"This is the time for us to take advantage. What we have is a good thing and we need to keep it going. (Culture) changes. Look at music: there's different music at different times, and things change. Being an Ontario kid and playing hockey, I love hockey. It's a great Canadian sport. But this is the time for us to really grow soccer again in this city. People are excited. There's a buzz around the team. It's up to us to keep that buzz going."

Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Russell Teibert on the growth of soccer in Vancouver

"I didn't hesitate when Pablo asked me. I just wanted to do anything I could to help the team be successful. As a rookie, you've got to learn to adjust and be able to adapt to any type of situation you're thrown into."

Colorado Rapids midfielder Jared Watts on his MLS debut at a different position

"To be part of this group and having the talks with Jurgen when first came in about being a leader on and off the field, being a good pro, showing the young guys what to do, I take pride in that and I think that's why I'm here today. We're a country with great goalkeepers. I'm not going into this with any frustration or any doubt about whether I'm going to play ... I'm going in there to prepare the team, not just the goalkeepers but the field players when they need me. Just keep my mind open and enjoy the ride."

Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando on being a part of the U.S. national team

"I've been pleasantly surprised with the resilience of the group that's there, both in the locker room and the front office. There are a lot of good people who deeply care about the club and its colors. The biggest challenge is trying to convince people it will be different. We're realistic. We realize that will take time. It will require a history of behavior on our part to convince them, but the reception has been warm."

Chivas USA president Nelson Rodriguez on is time at Chivas

"With a new coach coming in talking to you, being like, "I want more out of you,' it makes you think about giving your all for this team. I feel like the way he talks to the players makes you feel comfortable. If it doesn't go my way, I will just work hard and help the team win."

Columbus Crew midfielder Tony Tchani on Gregg Berhalter's effect on the team's confidence
