WORCESTER, MA - (August 21, 2009) - Staring at a 5-3 deficit heading to the bottom of the ninth inning, the Worcester Tornadoes stole a 6-5 win from the Brockton Rox on Friday night at Hanover Insurance Park. SS Omar Pena's two-run double was the game-winner off of Rox closer RHP Jerry Dunn who blew just his second save in 20 opportunities this summer.

The Rox appeared to have a come-from-behind victory wrapped up for themselves after 1B Clyde Williams drilled a two-out, two-run double to left centerfield in the seventh inning which put the Rox up 4-2. It was the first time Brockton had taken the lead in the game, after coming back to tie the score on two previous occasions. In the top of the ninth inning, DH Palmer Karr drove in Williams with an RBI double of own to give the Rox an insurance run. It appeared that starter LHP Craig Anderson was on his way to his eighth win of the year.

Anderson had delivered seven outstanding innings, allowing two runs on seven scattered hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out seven, including five in the first two innings. RHP Stevie Delabar pitched a scoreless eighth inning to set up Dunn for the ninth.

The first batter of the ninth inning fouled out to Rox catcher C Chris Grossman. However, DH Alex Pena doubled, C Yohanny Valera singled to plate Pena and 2B Mike MacMillan dropped down a bunt single. Then LF Vinny Pennell struck out for the second out. CF Heath Keel singled to right and advanced to second base on an error. On the play, Valera scored to pull Worcester within a run. SS Omar Pena then hammered a double to left center to plate the game-tying and winning runs. It was Worcester's fourth, ninth-inning comeback this season.

The Rox and Tornadoes take the field at Hanover Insurance Park on Saturday night at 7:05 PM. RHP Jeff Long (5-4, 3.84 ERA) will face Worcester's RHP Baron Short (0-1, 2.25 ERA).
