Worcester Tornadoes News Release
LITTLE FALLS, NJ--- It took Ryan Lobban three starts to earn his league leading tenth win, but with a nine inning effort the lefty took down the New Jersey Jackals in his home state 6-2.
The Tornadoes jumped out early in the first two games of the series and game three would be no different. Lucas Taylor led off with a walk, followed by Omar Pena reaching on an error and a Chris Colabello RBI single. Nick Salotti and Alex Pena added two more against NJ starter Sean Thompson to take a 3-0 lead before the Jackals even got to the plate. A two out, two run single from Jeff LaHair in the third and O. Pena's first long ball of the season in the seventh would double the lead to 6-0.
Lobban faced only three hitters in six of the nine innings getting some help from his defense in the form of a double play and an outfield assist. The only blemish in the five hit seven strike out performance came in the bottom of the ninth as Myron Leslie socked a two-run dinger from the right side of the plate after slugging a pair of round-trippers the night before.
The Tornadoes return home tonight for the first of a seven game home stretch and will toss Jusef Frias against Craig Anderson of the Brockton Rox at 7:05. It's Irish Night at the park, rescheduled from earlier in the season. There will also be Atlas Fireworks presented by Price Chopper immediately following the game.
