Worcester Tornadoes News Release

WORCESTER, MA--- For the fourth time this season, each with a different hero, the Tornadoes pulled off a come from behind final frame victory. The Tornadoes put up a four spot in the ninth to trump the Rox 6-5.

For the fourth straight game the Tornadoes drew first blood, cracking Brockton starter Craig Anderson for a run in the third after the tall left handed Aussie fanned five of the first six men he faced. Brockton had an answer in the top of the fourth to tie the score at one. Mike MacMillan led off the fifth with another hit and eventually scored the second Worcester run on Omar Pena's first RBI of the night. Little did the crowd at the HIP know; there would be more.

Anderson went seven innings and left in line for the victory while Tornado starter Jusef Frias was lifted after six. He struck out four, including the final two men he faced, but got into a shouting match with Keith Brachold, who struck out, and Rox manager Chris Carminucci before his departure.

Middle reliever Eddie Pena was put on the hook for the loss when he gave up a two run double to Clyde Williams in the seventh as Brockton took their first lead of the game. Another insurance run against Chris Anderson (2-1) in the ninth later and the Rox were enjoying a 5-2 lead.

The visiting closer Jerry Dunn (0-1) got the first out of the bottom of the ninth, however three consecutive hits from Alex Pena, Yohanny Valera, and Mike MacMillan followed by a two out single from Heath Keel set the stage with the score 5-4 and two runners on. Omar Pena crushed a 3-1 fastball to the gap in left-center and that was the ballgame.

Tomorrow at 7:05 Worcester will try to extend a two game win streak against Brockton. Worcester sends Baron Short (0-1) to the bump for his second Tornado start against Jeff Long (5-4) in his first start against the black and orange. Saturday night is Spencer/Brookfields Night, half price tickets if you live or work in any of those towns. Also for the second night in a row there will be fireworks after the game presented by Price Chopper.
