NEW JERSEY SCORES THREE IN NINTH TO BEAT SUSSEX

AUGUSTA, N.J. - New Jersey scored three runs with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to come-from-behind and beat the Sussex Skyhawks, 3-2, on Friday night at Skylands Park.

Mike DeJesus launched a sacrifice fly, scoring Mike Scanzano with New Jersey's first run to make it a 2-1 game. Then, with two outs, Timo Perez hit a ground ball that Sussex shortstop Mark Pappas booted, allowing Marcus Sanders to score the tying run. After Perez stole second, Myron Leslie smacked a single to left, scoring Perez from second and giving New Jersey the 3-2 advantage.

Rusty Tucker kept Sussex off the board in the ninth to pick up his 22nd save of the season. Kevin Gunter picked up the win after throwing a scoreless eighth inning of relief. Ted Serro was impressive in his start for New Jersey. Serro gave up two runs on nine hits through seven innings, walking one and striking out five.

The Skyhawks received outstanding pitching from Tim Stringer and Greg Lane. Stringer threw six shutout innings, yielding five hits while walking four and striking out four. Lane gave up one hit in two innings of relief.
