Tornadoes Blow Away Rapidz, 8-3

(OTTAWA, ON) Monday, September 1, 2008 - The Ottawa Rapidz completed their inaugural season with an 8-3 loss on Monday afternoon against the Worcester Tornadoes in front of a season-high 5,021 fans.

The Rapidz scored twice in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. Pete Pirman singled to score Kyle Geiger and Jereme Milons reached home on Kevin Butler's single.

Worcester came back with four runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead. Josh Farkes and B.J. Weed produced one run each while Scott Grimes hit a two-run double.

Ottawa cut the lead with a run in the bottom of that same inning to make it 4-3, but Worcester took it back in the top of the sixth on Alex Pena's first homerun of the season. They added three more runs in the top of the eighth to complete the scoring.

Fraser Robinson (4-8) suffered the loss, while Ryan Lobban (5-1) picked up the win.
