Memphis Redbirds News Release

Memphis, Tenn. - Albuquerque used a seventh inning error to edge Memphis 2-1 Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.

John Gall scored all the way from first base on a sacrifice bunt by Scott Seabol, in the seventh inning to put the Isotopes on top 2-1. Third baseman Travis Hanson fielded the bunt and threw out Seabol but no one was covering third base when Gall rounded second. First baseman Tagg Bozied's errant throw wound up in foul territory allowing Gall to score. Reggie Abercrombie scored the 'Topes first run in the third inning after stealing second and third base. He finished the day with three hits and four stolen bases.

Memphis was held to just four hits with Nick Stavinoha driving in the team's lone run with a single in the fifth inning. The 'Birds left eight men on base, including four in scoring position, bringing their total to 26 in the last three games.

Chris George earned the win for the Isotopes after tossing six solid innings. He scattered three hits and allowed one run, unearned, with three walks and five strikeouts. Justin Miller picked up his fifth save with a pair of strikeouts in the ninth. Matt Ginter was the tough-luck loser after allowing the unearned run in the seventh. Blake Hawksworth pitched five innings but was chased by a 29-minute rain delay in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Redbirds will wrap up their four-game series and homestand tomorrow night. Troy Cate will get the nod for the home team and oppose Albuquerque's Jeff Fulchino. First pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m.
