Tony Meola Out 2-3 Weeks

SECAUCUS, NJ (Wednesday, July 12, 2006) - Red Bull New York announced today that goalkeeper Tony Meola will be sidelined 2-3 weeks due to a bacterial infection in his right foot and ankle.

Meola currently paces all MLS goalkeepers in saves (75) and save percentage (78.9) in 14 games played this season. The 37-year-old Kearny, NJ native recently earned his 100th cap with the US National Team on April 11, 2006 and was the alternate goalie on the 2006 U.S. World Cup squad.

Jon Conway is slated to replace Meola between the pipes for the Red Bulls. Conway, a 1999 graduate of Rutgers University, has appeared in two games for the Red Bulls this season, recording one win (5-4, vs. Chivas on May 20) and one tie (1-1, vs. Chicago on May 13).

The Red Bulls face the Colorado Rapids for the first time in 2006 this Friday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. ET at Giants Stadium.
