Tulsa Oilers News Release
Right This Way First Timers: The Tulsa Oilers and Rocky Mountain Rage meet for the first time in the regular season in Tulsa tonight.
Records: Oilers are 22-25-7 with 51 points in fourth place in the Northeast Division. Rocky Mountain is 14-34-5 with 33 points in fourth place in the Northeast Division.
Recent Action: The Oilers lost a hard fought game to Bossier-Shreveport on Tuesday, 2-1 in the second annual American Airlines/Transport Workers Union Local 514 Tulsa Public Schools game. Rocky Mountain is coming a comeback win last night over Wichita. Trailing 3-1, the Rage rallied for a 4-3 win in regulation time.
Season Series: Not too much to speak of, so far. The two teams have played only once. The Oilers provided the opposition for the Rage in their inaugural home opener. Rocky Mountain won that game 5-4 in a shootout.
399 Down...: David Alexandre Beauregard scored the Oilers goal on Tuesday, giving him 34 goals on the season and 399 in his professional career.
The Chase To The Playoffs: The Oilers start today's game six points behind the Wichita Thunder in the race for the sixth and final playoff berth in the Northern Conference. Wichita has played three more games than the Oilers. Colorado, Bossier-Shreveport, Memphis, and Youngstown have secured four of the playoff spots. Rocky Mountain has been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. That leaves Oklahoma City, Wichita and the Oilers battling for the final two berths. In the Southern Conference, only the Laredo Bucks have clinched a playoff berth.
Next Up: Although it's taken a while for Rocky Mountain to make its first visit to Tulsa, it won't be long before the second game. The same two teams meet her tomorrow night at 7:35 p.m.
