Walleye Notes
- Past Week Performance! Toledo finished this past week with a 2-1-0 record, collecting four points. The Walleye started the week with a 3-2 win Friday night in Cincinnati. Willie Coetzee scored with 8:48 left in the third period for Toledo to get the win. On Saturday night, Toledo had seven different scorers in a 7-0 win at Cincinnati. Sunday afternoon, the Cyclones scored late in the third period to beat the Walleye 4-3.
- Bombing and Raking! Walleye forwards Andy Bohmbach and Evan Rankin both scored one goal in all three games this past week. Bohmbach has scored 25 goals this year, while Rankin now has 22 goals.
- Iron Man! Goaltender Thomas McCollum has started 14 consecutive games for the Walleye, which is every game in the month of March. Toledo's record is 7-5-2 in those contests. Thomas has a stellar 2.55 goals against average and a .916 save percentage in the month with 2 shutouts. This is most consecutive starts for a Toledo goaltender since Dominic Vicari started 13 straight from December 10, 2006-January 12, 2007. McCollum was recalled by the Detroit Red Wings after the game on Sunday versus Cincinnati.
- Gametime! The Walleye play just three games this week to finish out the 2010-11 regular season. Toledo will start and end the week in the same spot, Wheeling, West Virginia for games on Thursday and Saturday. Toledo is 3-3-0 this year against the Nailers. The Walleye lost 3-1 on March 16th in Wheeling in the last meeting. Sandwiched between those games is a home tilt with the Elmira Jackals. Toledo is 3-3-0 against the Jackals this year and has not played Elmira since January 22nd, an 8-7 win.
- Promotions! Tuesday night, Walleye defensemen Scott Fletcher and Kyle Page will join Head Coach Nick Vitucci on the Toledo Walleye Coaches Show 6-7pm at Pizza Papalis.
